Thanksgiving Break

I had a great Turkey holiday! Though I was driving home (9 hours) to Houston on my birthday, which was November 19, it wasn't bad at all. I had great company from my good friend, Sarah, and I was greeted warmly once I got home with an awesome home-made rib dinner and delicious strawberry cake! Just what I wanted. Also, I got some bad a** boots from my mom, I have worn them just about everyday since I've had them ;) and I also received such cute jewelry from Rachel and Camille and Evelyn got me an adorable margarita glass, hand painted with purses all over it. So cute! I can't wait to go home, officially, and use it with a good ole Texas margarita.

Strawberry Cake...Mmmmmm!

Bartow wasn't able to visit this Thanksgiving break but he had an amazing week himself, duck hunting and catching up with all his childhood friends. I love his friends, I'm jealous he got to spend the whole week with them.
I took Charlotte with me to Saint Dane's (a biker bar near downtown that is dog-friendly) so that was so fun! I met my good friend Ian there who brought his own black lab.
I got to go to Chuy's and have a couple of their famous swirled margaritas. If yall ever are in Houston, PLEASE go to Chuy's off of Westheimer, I don't know how the other ones are, but this one is my favorite! It is just so good and it's hilarious because it has all sorts of Elvis Presley memorabelia inside. The food is awesome and the drinks are even better. Just sayin'...
Anyway, I'm back in Oxford now, counting down the days til finals, til graduation, til HAWAII!!
Did I mention that I am going to Hawaii in December for New Years? Bartow's family soo graciously invited me to go with them to Maui for New Years. I am SO pumped!! I cannot wait! Thus, I'm dieting like hard core now because Mrs. Hawes and Bartow's brother's girlfriend, Christina, are like so beautiful and thin and tall, and I've been eating fried food in the South all semester. I'll let yall know how my diet's going once I start seeing results ;)

Til next time!

Too Many Papers Due

I had a 20 page paper due in my Jour 574 (public opinion) class this passed Tuesday, yesterday, and thank God that it is over with and out of my hair. I had a 2 page homework assignment due in my Jour 301 (media history) class today that I just turned in at 2pm. And I have a 3 page essay due in my Eng 360 (19th century women in American literature) class tomorrow. So, this week is crazy for me. I hate it when teachers/professors do that the week before a holiday. Eventhough I have the whole week off next week for Thanksgiving, which will be so nice after this busy week, I can't wait for these assignment to be out of my hands. Also, my 23rd birthday is on Friday (!!!), but I'll be driving home with one of my best friends, Sarah, who's from Houston, so I won't be able to celebrate all day on my birthday. Instead I think that I may go out for a little on Thursday with my friends just to see everyone before the holidays, especially since it's my last semester and will be leaving everyone, :(

On a lighter note, I cannot wait to go home this weekend and see my family and friends in Houston! I haven't really seen anyone this semester so it's going to be so nice to visit and relax and catch up with everyone.

Till next time!

20 page paper

In my Jour 574 class (aka Public Opinion), I have to complete a 20 page paper covering factual events and analyses of the civil rights movement, focusing on women's and human rights. I have no problem writing about these topics, but 20 pages, seriously? What teacher wants to read 15 students' papers ranging in and around 20 pages? It's madness! I'm just glad that it was postponed til next Tuesday instead of tomorrow, Thursday. Phew!

So my dad, stepmom and 2 half-siblings came to visit me this passed weekend for our Homecoming game against the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULALA). We creamed them! No big deal. Actually it is a very big deal, seeing as we have only won 2 games this entire season (Kentucky and Fresno State). Hotty Toddy Rebels!! (notice how I didn't say 'black bears' seeing as we are NOT the black bears).
They drove in on Friday, coming in around 8ish at night and we had take out which was from my favorite restaurant in Oxford, Kabuki. It's a Japanese Sushi and Steakhouse place, phenom! Anyway the next day was the game day, so naturally we had "to grove" (Ole Miss' classier version of tailgating for a home game) and I had to be at work at 1:30 in the Grove, so sadly we all didn't get to go to the Grove together, but we all met up after I got off, which is around kick off time (6pm this past game).
Executive VP of TeleSouth Communications Kim Dillon was gracious enough to give Bartow an extra ticket up to their suite, which is where I usually watch the game, and so that was incredibly fun! She also gave me 4 tickets into the stadium to give to my dad and stepmom and for me and Bartow if we wanted to leave the suite and meet up with them during the game. AWESOME! I work with the best kind of people. If yall ever want a job change, go into Marketing, preferrably sports marketing. You just can't be an unpleasant, fake, snobby, caddy, rude, boring person if you work for a company's marketing department. That's why I can't wait to graduate and hopefully work in the professional sports marketing area.
PS you didn't hear this from me, but I may have a job offer with Chevron-Texaco in Houston! Keep your fingers crossed!

Till next time!

Flowers after a Crabby Day!

Ok, so now I feel bad for feeling bad all day. Bartow, being the most amazing sweetheart of a boyfriend there is, went out after he dropped me off at my apartment to finish his errands and go to his house and shower and what not and I was glad to have some alone time and just relax and not be on campus or in the car anymore. So I decided to go downstairs to our complex's gym and run for 30 minutes just to clear my head and get some much needed exercise. After about 35ish minutes, I go back upstairs and Bartow is there and he has a beautiful little vase of a gorgeous assortment of red flowers. Roses, dyed daisies, gerber daisies...it's so pretty and it really made my day. He is the best guy any girl could ever wish for and I am so lucky to have him in my life. I love him so much!

Whimsical Wednesday

I only had 1 class today, Media History, and it only lasted 50 minutes, so I didn't know what else to do with my day. I am procrastinating a 20 page paper that I have due a week from Thursday over civil rights and I am really not looking forwar to it. Y'all wish me luck!

So Bartow had a presentation today and I know he rocked it but he was super nervous because public speaking is not his forte so naturally he was in a crabby mood which rubbed off on me because I have a very addictive personality (both ways so I'm told) so now I'm in a crabby mood for no reason. Ugh..

Chat w/ Eli

Hey guys! So as some of you know, I am an intern for Rebel Sports Marketing here at Ole Miss. This entails me working at select sporting events (volleyball, softball, baseball, soccer, football and office work regarding Ole Miss sports). My main event that I cherish with all my heart and my 'main title' is basically the 'golf cart driver during football games'. This means I get to the Grove around 4 hours before kick off, hang out at the telesouth Communication-Ole Miss Network RV tailgate, which Rebel Sports Marketing works with, and transport marketing executives from the game to the Grove.

Marketing executives, directors and such will come to Ole Miss games to check out their ads around the stadium, radio shows and tv shows that broadcast on game days and then are invited up to the Telesouth Communications suite, as am I!

So, this past game we played Auburn University. We lost 51-31 but nonetheless we played an amazing game. Since it was such a high expectationed game, the Mannings came in to watch it. Archie, Eli his wife Anne (who is expecting!), Cooper and his 3 little kids (little Arch 8, May-short for Molly 6-and Hyde 4) were all there and were super nice and entertaining, well the kids were anyway. Long story short, I shook Eli's hand, introduced myself and actually had a mini conversation with him! We talked about the suite's recent face lift, it was awesome! But I think my handshake is stronger than his...don't tell it! He was very nice, he looked me in the eye when we spoke, which was weird because he seems so disinterested in interviews on tv and very, well, 'slow' ha!

Between the 3 Manning men, about 3 cases of Bud Lite were drank. Awesome. I mean, they did go to Ole Miss right! ;)

I had to work the entire game but I wasn't complaining-fat pay check, convo with Eli Manning and I was in a freaking suite watching my favorite team! Hotty Toddy!

Ending the weekend, Halloween sadly fell on a Sunday, and Oxford being a dry county, no bars were open and no alcohol was sold. I mean, I don't need alcohol to have a good time, it was just disappointing when a nationally fun 'holiday' falls on a dry county Sunday in the #4 party school in the nation. Just sayin'.

Bartow and I had not the time nor money to dress up in costume, but we still had a good time relaxing and being 5th year seniors at home watching the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Classic.

Till next time! xxoo
