Western Chic for Goodwill!

The 25th Annual Goodwill Gala
was this past Saturday evening at the River Oaks Country Club.
It was such a blast
and I'm so blessed to have been able to be a part of it all.

The attire was either "Country Club Casual" or "Western Chic"
so naturally I go with the one that lets me wear my boots!

Career Chic Basics

Sitting indoors behind a desk in front of a computer screen (2 actually) can be tiring on the eyes, mind and, well, hips to be honest.  I try to avoid "Secretary Butt" by wearing heels everyday so it's a little calf work out whenever I get up to walk around.  Intercom systems are great in the office but they get a little too convenient and sometimes I'll end up literally sitting at my desk for HOURS without moving or walking around.  So bad!

So with this outfit, I love because each piece is a "basic" meaning you can wear it all year round and practically with anything!  I splurged a little at Banana Republic but honestly, you get what you pay for!  Every girl needs a good "slim chino" like these...Navy, Khaki, Gray, any neutral color will do.  I've never been a fan of "skinny belts" but for some reason I bought one and I really am so glad I did because it goes great with the top and the pant.  It break up the color blocking, which is kind of going out of style (and to be "too trendy" can really hurt your appearance).  I like to dress in an "expected unexpected" way if that makes sense.  What I wear is basic but it works and I try to make it look a little more polished than a standard "office outfit" (blouse, pant, blazer, done....boring!)

Happy New You!

So 2012 came and went...lots happened!

  • Paris, France! for the first time
  • Gained a brother-in-law
  • Traveled to Omaha, NE for the first time
  • Quit my first job and got a new one!
  • Paris, France! for the first time
  • Traveled Lubbock, TX for the first time
  • Attended the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo as a committee member for the first time
  • Celebrated 4 years with my boyfriend
  • Spent first big holiday (other than NYE and Easter) with my love (Thanksgiving!)
  • Did I mention...Paris, France! for the first time

Now it's time for 2013, y'all!

So far, I've started a new job at the largest commercial real estate company in the world, yes, the world!
I started the year off in St Louis, MO with my boyfriend
Went to the Anheuser Busch Brewery (for the second time in my life)
and, on a less exciting note...
I've decided to take a break from my relationship.

I still absolutely love and adore my boyfriend, but we both have some individual issues we need to figure out before we take any next steps in our relationship.  An engagement was the next step and as of now I don't think I nor he is ready for that and it truly breaks my heart to admit that because I thought that I'd found
"the One"
But coming from a broken household I want to be 150% positive that I am making the right choice.
I will love him until the day I die, nothing will change that, no matter what the future may throw our way.

Anyway, I hope we both grow in our time apart, and hopefully get back together in the end, but only God knows my plans and I can only live each day as it were a gift, because it truly is.
